a Mike & Deb gig

What the fuh…..??

Did anyone happen to see the latest Computerworld? How low do you have to stoop to try to sell something? On the front page, “enhancing” an article about remote access, was a picture of a blonde nymphette, wearing tight jeans, lots of make up, pouty lips, halter top, strappy high heel numbers… legs splayed out so that we could see, well, just how long they were.

And you might well ask, (go ahead, I did) what did she have to do with remote access? Well aside from the fact that she was pretending to use a laptop on what looked like a kitchen benchtop, it had absolutely nothing to do with the article.

And if you went to the rest of the article on page 7, there she was again - an even bigger version of her this time! Like we didn’t get it first time around.

So, aside from the fact that this image was put there presumably to titillate all those middle-aged, male IT managers out there (yeahhh… like in your wildest dreams you’re going to score HER), for what possible reason would Computerworld do this?

I mean, it’s not like we have so many IT rags in New Zealand that they would need to resort to page three girl mentality to get an edge on the competition. Do we?

It’s not like we don’t know that IT is still dominated by men. And it was such a sexual image that it definitely wasn’t intended to attract women to buy it.

Let’s just put it down to a fluke editorial misjudgment, and see what happens.

Me, I’m waiting for the Keanu Reeves swimsuit edition.
